Street Markets in San Antonio
From the bustling Mexican Market to music and dancing at El Mercado, you’ll feel alive and invigorated as you roam the thriving San Antonio street markets.
Boasting a fun and spirited atmosphere, the Mexican Market is full of color, energy, and a carnival-like vibe. Here you’ll find friendly vendors at the more than 100 stalls where you can discover most anything under the sun, including Old-West souvenirs like Sombreros and Stetson cowboy hats. This busy market is a must-see for new and repeat travelers alike to the River City.
You’ll find the Historic Market Square located near San Antonio’s city center, a three-block outdoor plaza lined with shops, restaurants, and produce stands. Found on many Top 10 outdoor markets in America lists, it’s the largest Mexican market in the United States.
Here you’ll discover a true taste of old Mexico, with working artists, musicians, and dancers, as well as handcrafted works of art, authentic Talavera pottery, hand-embroidered dresses, and other exotic treasures. Hispanic festivals flourish throughout the year with local cuisine, beverages, Mariachi bands, and traditional Mexican dancing.
Explore the area known as Pearl, a 22-acre mixed-use site that includes a renowned farmers market open year-round, as well as shops, restaurants, green spaces, and an amphitheater. Every weekend, local food producers sell their wares at the open-air market, where the emphasis on Saturday is fresh produce, meat, and eggs. On Sunday, the focus shifts to artisanal foods like locally produced cheeses, baked goods, and oils. Weekends start early in Pearl with live music and entertainment every Thursday night.
At the end of an outing filled with the fun, fabulous finds, and excitement of El Mercado or Pearl, return to the welcoming comforts of your residential-style retreat complete with your own private balcony, kitchen, and elegant living and dining areas. Then lounge by the pool or bask in the pleasure of one of our spa treatments.
